The Greengnorance partnership successfully completed its Joint Staff Training (JST) in Pontevedra, Spain, from 19 to 21 November 2025, hosted by SEK International School Atlántico. This three-day event gathered teachers, psychologists, and experts from partner institutions to exchange knowledge and refine strategies for integrating environmental education into school curricula.
The main objectives of the JST were to strengthen pedagogical and psychological skills among educators to prepare them for piloting, to collect feedback on the prepared Greengnorance Toolkit, and promote sustainable practices in schools. By focusing on these goals, the training aimed to empower teachers to inspire climate-conscious behaviour and foster resilience in the face of environmental challenges.

The training combined interactive workshops, team-building activities, and lectures, creating a dynamic environment for collaboration. Participants explored motivational techniques for teachers, psychological aspects of environmental action, and inclusive approaches to geography education among others. These sessions were complemented by practical planning for the piloting of the Greengnorance Toolkit, ensuring that the project moves closer to its goal of empowering educators and students.
It is essential to equip teachers not only with knowledge but also with psychological resources to inspire students and foster climate-friendly behaviour.
The event brought together a diverse group of participants from multiple European countries, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and best practices. This multicultural collaboration is a cornerstone of the Greengnorance project, ensuring that solutions are adaptable to different educational contexts.
Innovative methodologies were applied throughout the JST, including experiential learning, team-building games, and outdoor activities. Visits to local heritage sites such as the A Caeira petroglyphs and the Sequoias Forest highlighted the importance of connecting environmental education with cultural and natural heritage.
Thanks to the fruitful discussions and collaborative spirit, the partnership achieved significant progress in skill and toolkit development. These outcomes will contribute to reducing green ignorance among high school students encouraging them to shape a more sustainable future.
Looking ahead, the next steps include the refinement of the Toolkit, the elaboration of a teachers’ guidebook, and the piloting of the Greengnorance Toolkit at the partner schools in four countries to gather feedback from educators and students before broader dissemination across Europe. The insights gained during the JST will play a crucial role in shaping these future activities.
