Project Overview

The C.H.A.N.G.E.R.S.-2.0 project has reached a significant milestone, delivering transformative educational materials aimed at empowering rural seniors. This European initiative focuses on combating climate change, addressing energy poverty, and promoting sustainable living. Through tailored adult learning opportunities, the project provides seniors with the tools to adopt greener practices and contribute to a sustainable future.

Developed Resources

The project has developed comprehensive training materials and toolkits that are accessible and practical (LINK). Key highlights include:

  • Seven Training Modules: Covering essential topics such as energy efficiency, waste management, sustainable mobility, biodiversity, and zero pollution. These modules guide seniors on adopting eco-friendly practices within their homes and communities.
  • Toolkit for Trainers: Designed for educators, this toolkit facilitates workshops focusing on sustainable and green household topics, incorporating innovative methods like intergenerational co-education.

Transgenerational Approach

A unique aspect of C.H.A.N.G.E.R.S.-2.0 is its focus on transgenerational learning, where children, grandchildren, or neighbors collaborate with seniors to implement sustainable practices. This co-education model fosters mutual understanding and enhances the learning process by building on shared experiences.

Interactive Tools and Games

To make learning engaging, the project introduced creative tools, including:

  • Memory Games
  • Comics
  • Word Searches
  • Green Board Game for all
  • Board Game pro
  • Puzzles

These tools serve as interactive ways for seniors to grasp sustainability concepts effectively.

Policy Recommendation for Sustainability

The C.H.A.N.G.E.R.S.-2.0 project culminates in a comprehensive Policy Recommendation Paper, which aligns with key EU strategies such as the European Green Deal and the Lifelong Learning Policies. The recommendations emphasise actionable strategies like financial incentives for green retrofitting, intergenerational environmental education, and sustainability mentorship programmes. These policies aim to integrate rural seniors into broader sustainability efforts while addressing challenges such as energy poverty and limited access to education.
